Feeding her Chicago Neighborhood

Dejah Powell  grew up on the South Side of Chicago.  Last summer, she mobilized a team of volunteers to design and plant a community garden at her former elementary school, which offered fruits and vegetables to children, teachers and neighborhood residents.  The organization she founded — Get Them to The Green, was awarded a grant from the MFF in 2017.   Click here to read more about the amazing work she’s done to raise funds for the project, and the week-long summer camp she created for inner city youth.
