Islands of Brilliance is one of the organization that the MFF fundss. A recent Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article highlighted the work to help autistic children. The article notes, “Mark and Margaret Fairbanks, of Shorewood, created Islands of Brilliance, a nonprofit dedicated to using project-based learning through technology to help children with autism discover their intrinsic capabilities, as well as helping them practice communication to help them become more independent as adults.”
The idea for Islands of Brilliance was sparked when the Fairbanks’s son was diagnosed with autism at age 3. Read the full article to find how the organization has grown considerably with chapters started in Milwaukee, Minneapolis, and Duluth.
