The McGinnity Family Foundation is steadfast in our support of racial justice and equality and we believe that Black Lives Matter.  We denounce all forms of systemic racism and are committed to action.

White people – with innate privilege – have a responsibility to show up for people of color in any way possible.  And if not before, most certainly now.

Let’s find tangible ways to use and leverage our privilege for good.  Advocate, create safe spaces for healthy dialogue, open our minds and hearts and be willing to be uncomfortable as we humbly listen and learn…. and take a good look at our own biases.  Let’s educate ourselves, work to understand and empathize.  Grace, love, empowerment, growth.

Our role in this work must go beyond good intentions.  That quite simply isn’t enough.

It is a privilege to feel safe – so many don’t.

It’s a privilege to decide if, how and when we will engage in this movement.

It’s a privilege to not have to think twice about sending our children off to sports practice or school without a worry about their safe return.

And if we’re not at a point where this movement feels like it has a direct impact on us – that’s a privilege too.

As a Foundation, we are committed to doing everything we can to support racial equality.  We are actively expanding our work as allies, listening, learning and challenging white privilege and systems that perpetuate oppression and inequities in our communities – and we encourage others to do the same.

We support our family and friends of color and stand with them in this movement for racial equality.

And we are inspired by the young people who are beacons of hope as they continue to demonstrate their action-oriented devotion to this fight.  We encourage any young people who have responded to this movement for racial equality with tangible, game-changing action to contact us at annie@themcgfoundation.org. Let’s talk.
